Installation

This chapter is divided into the following sections:

Installing on Windows
lists the steps required to install and run VolanoChat on Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows XP systems.
Installing on UNIX
lists the steps required to install and run VolanoChat on UNIX systems such as FreeBSD, Hewlett-Packard HP-UX, IBM AIX, Red Hat Linux, SCO UnixWare, Silicon Graphics IRIX, Sun Solaris, and others.
Installing on the Mac
lists the steps required to install and run VolanoChat on the Apple Mac OS.
Installing on Other Systems
lists the steps required to install and run VolanoChat on other systems, such as IBM OS/2, IBM OS/400, and Novell NetWare.

When choosing an Operating System for your chat server, you should general opt for the OS with which you have the most experience.
