Request to Exchange License Keys

VolanoChat and VolanoChatPro License keys are issued to the unique IP address and port number on which the server will be running. If you move the VolanoChat server to a different IP address or change the port number (default port is 8000), we will need to issue you a new license key.

License keys will be issued to the version number of your current installation. You can purchase an upgrade for VolanoChat through our online store.

Please read the information, below, as it may affect your request to receive a new license key.

New Permanent License Keys

To avoid any delays in issuing your new license key, please make sure that...

  1. You provide all the required information on the Request to Exchange License Keys contract. (click "Yes" below)
  2. The VolanoChat software has been installed on the new IP address and port number (when possible).
  3. The original, unmodified support.log file from the new installation is submitted. Giving us the support.log file from the new installation can ensure we issue the proper license key and register you for support at the same time.
  4. The original, unmodified support.log file from the old installation is submitted.
  5. The person submitting the Request to Exchange License Keys is listed as a contact in our customer database, is authorized to make such requests, has made prior arrangements to receive the new key, or has an email address that contains the domain name of record.

If you have not downloaded and installed the software on the new server, please do so now to generate the required support.log file. Use the links to the right for your download.

Temporary License Keys

We may issue a temporary license key, rather than a permanent key, if...

  1. The Request to Exchange License Keys contract is not completed in its entirety.
  2. The VolanoChat software was not downloaded and installed on the new IP address and port number prior to requesting a new key.
  3. The support.log file of the new installation is not submitted with the request, or it was modified (i.e., the prior file was updated with the new information).
  4. The support.log from the old installation was not submitted, or prior arrangements were not made with Volano regarding the unavailability of the file.
  5. The person submitting the Request to Exchange License Keys...
    • ...is not listed as a contact in our customer database
    • ...is not authorized to make such requests
    • ...has not made prior arrangements with Volano to receive the new key
    • ...has an email address that does not contain the domain name listed in our customer database (i.e., portal addresses such as yahoo.com, msn.com, web.de, hotmail.com, etc.)

If you receive a temporary license key from Volano, information will be included in the email with your temporary license key providing the steps you will need to take to receive a permanent license key.

Delivery of License Keys

If your requested is accepted by Volano, subject to the terms of the Request to Exchange License Keys contract, a new license key will be issued in the normal course of business without any guarantees or representations as to when such license key will be issued. License keys are usually issued the same day that the Request was received, but please allow until the end of the next business day (Monday through Friday).

To continue to the Request to Exchange License Keys form, please acknowledge that you have read the information above which may affect your request to receive a new key. By clicking "Yes" you will be redirected to the form.
